Valverde banned
THE Italian Olympic Committee's anti-doping tribunal has banned Spanish cyclist Alejandro Valverde from competing in Italy for two years.
The tribunal held a hearing yesterday into drug allegations against the rider. The panel ordered a two-year ban from competition in Italy. The ruling does not apply outside Italy. In February, the Italian Olympic Committee confronted Valverde with DNA evidence and documents that allegedly showed he was involved in the Operation Puerto blood doping case.
