Amateurs lead after 2 rounds
Yin Xiaowen continued to impress against a pro field at the Zhangjiagang Shuangshan Challenge yesterday as the 15-year-old carded a 3-under-par 69 to maintain her two-stroke lead through two rounds in Jiangsu Province.
After 36 holes at the China LPGA Tour event, Yin was 7-under 137. The Tianjin teenager is in position to become the third amateur to win the 500,000-yuan (US$74,315) tournament after 18-year-old Hou Yu-chiang of Chinese Taipei did it last year and Liu Wenbo (70) won as a 16-year-old in 2017.
Zhang Yue, another amateur, was alone in second as the 19-year-old also shot 69 to keep within striking distance at Zhangjiagang Shuangshan Golf Club. Veteran Liu Yan (72) was the top professional at five strokes off the pace in third, one stroke ahead of Pan Yanhong (73), Li Jiayun (71) and Wang Xinying (72).
