Birdie blitz gives Lee lead at Beijing Ladies Classic
RIDING a red-hot back nine where she carded six birdies, Chinese Taipei’s Lee Chia-pei shot a 7-under-par 65 yesterday to take a one-stroke lead after the opening round of the Le Coq Sportif Beijing Ladies Classic in the Chinese capital.
South Korea’s Song Ji-won and home favorite Chen Cuixia, both with 6-under 66, were tied for second at the 800,000-yuan (US$122,240) China LPGA Tour event being held at the Beijing Orient Pearl Golf Course. Another Chinese Liu Yu, Shih Huei-ju of Chinese Taipei and Koreans Lee Jeong-hwa and Yeom Hye-in were joint third after firing matching 67s.
