Donald, Poulter miss the cut at PGA Championship
TWO-TIME defending champion Luke Donald and Ryder Cup teammate Ian Poulter missed the cut at the PGA Championship in Virginia Water, England, yesterday.
Donald (72) was 6 over overall after two rounds in the cold and rain at Wentworth.
"Even for England this weather is pretty unseasonal and it made the course play very tough because the last couple of years it's been very warm and the ball has travelled a lot," Donald said. "I was nine over through 21 holes playing pretty terrible golf, really."
Thursday's round of 78 was Donald's worst at Wentworth by four shots.
"I've had a bit of everything the last two days, and when I've missed a fairway I've also missed a green and the problems are compounding," the Briton said.
"There is no one part of my game that is really firing at the moment and because of that you are going to struggle."
Compatriot Poulter (76) is planning to make the most of his free weekend, going to the Champions League final at Wembley Stadium today and then to the Monaco Grand Prix tomorrow.
Francesco Molinari (68) was the clubhouse leader with a 138 total. Sergio Garcia - at the center of a racism storm this week and playing with Donald - was level-par for the tournament.
