Ewart Shadoff sets early pace, grabs 2-stroke lead

Britain’s Jodi Ewart Shadoff shot 7-under 65 yesterday to take a two-stroke lead after the first round of the LPGA Taiwan Championship.

Shadoff, seeking her first career victory, made seven birdies in a bogey-free round at the Ta Shee Golf and Country Club in Taoyuan to finish ahead of Kang Hae-ji of South Korea and American Nelly Korda. Ally McDonald offset a double bogey with six birdies and was a further stroke back with Moriya Jutanugarn, local favorite Hsu Wei-ling, Lee Jeong-eun and Ryu So-yeon.
