Jang, Yan share early lead
FRESH off qualifying for next month’s US Women’s Open, Jang So-young carried her strong form into the Bank of Qingdao Golden Mountain Challenge in Qingdao, Shandong Province, yesterday when the South Korean fired a 67 to share the first-round lead with Chinese amateur Yan Jing at the China LPGA Tour event.
Jang, who topped the field at Monday’s US Women’s Open China qualifier to earn one of the two spots available, carded five birdies in her bogey-free round while 18-year-old Yan opened with a bogey five and then reeled off six birdies to grab a share of the lead.
