Jang triumphs in Qingyuan
Jang Ha-na maintained the Korean stranglehold on the Hyundai China Ladies Open yesterday when she fired a final-round 73 in stormy conditions to win the national championship in Qingyuan, Guangdong Province.
Jang’s score of 3-under 216, one stroke better than compatriots Kim Ha-neul (72), Kim Hye-youn (75) and Lee Jeong-eun (71,) marked the eight consecutive year a Korean has won the US$400,000 tournament, a joint-sanctioned event between the China LPGA Tour and LPGA Tour of Korea. Other scores saw overnight leader Choi Hye-jung balloon to an 81 to finish four off the pace, tied with defending champion Kim Hyo-joo who closed with a 68. China’s Feng Shanshan, the world No. 6, struggled to a 78, six strokes back.
