Kim leads in Shenzhen
KIM Char-young set the early pace at the Hyundai China Ladies Open in Shenzhen yesterday when the Seoul native opened with a 6-under 66 for a one-stroke lead at the national championship in Guangdong Province.
Chinese Taipei’s Chien Pei-yun (67) was alone in second at the US$550,000 tournament, co-sponsored by the China LPGA Tour and the Ladies PGA Tour of Korea, while China No. 2 Lin Xiyu (68) was in third, two shots off the lead. Defending champion Jang Ha-na of South Korea was in a group of seven players at 3 under. Kim, a sixth-year pro who won three times on the KLPGA Tour in 2012, put herself in contention for her first win in three years with a round that included eight birdies.
