Nakayama hangs on to lead in Shanghai

JAPAN'S Mina Nakayama held it together through cold and windy conditions during second-round play at the US$50,000 Shanghai Classic yesterday for a one-stroke lead in the first tournament of the China LPGA Tour Season.

With temperatures hovering around 11 degrees Celsius at Orient (Shanghai) Sports and Country Club, the 20-year-old Kobe native carded a 4-over 76 for a slim lead over China's Ye Liying (75) and Yang Taoli (74) and Thailand's Tanaporn Kongkiakrai (75). Through 36 holes, Nakayama was 2-over 146. Thailand's Nontaya Srisawang (75) and Chinese Taipei's Yao Hsua-yu (77) were two off the pace, while overnight leader Feng Simin, a 15-year-old Chinese amateur, struggled to an 81 and was four shots back.
