Pan claims Buick title

PAN Yanhong of China flexed her muscles as the former power-lifter fired a 6-under 66 for a four-shot victory at the Buick Ladies Invitational yesterday.

The 31-year-old, who returned home after playing in Japan last year, finished at 8-under 280 in the third tournament of the China LPGA Tour season at Shanghai Qizhong Garden Golf Club. She earned 120,000 yuan (US$19,250) for her third career win.

Compatriot Zhang Yuyang, who played consistently over the four rounds, carded an even-par 72 to finish second, while 12-year-old amateur Ye Lei (71) closed with her strongest round of the week to sit equal third with overnight leader Pennapa Pulsawath (77) of Thailand, seven shots off the pace.
