Poulter joins duo for Singapore lead
ENGLAND'S Ian Poulter slipped into a tie with Thomas Levet and Kodai Ichihara for the clubhouse lead before thunderstorms cut short play in the third round of the Singapore Open yesterday.
Poulter, who finished up his second round in the morning with a 7-under-par 64 to take a five-stroke lead, faltered in the afternoon at four over through six holes.
Andrew Dodt and Liang Wenchong were tied a shot off the lead while three others are tied two shots back. Ernie Els joins three other players at five under. "There are so many guys close the top of the leaderboard, within a few shots, so this tournament is nowhere near finished," Levet said. "I'm looking forward to tomorrow because I love the battle."
Liang is shooting for a second major title in the island-state after winning the Singapore Masters in 2007 en route to becoming China's first Asian No. 1.
He eagled the par five seventh hole from 15 feet for an outward 34 before play was halted.
