Rungthiwa ends 4-year drought
THAILAND'S Rungthiwa Pangjan ended a four-year winless streak with a wire-to-wire victory at the Shanghai Classic yesterday for her maiden China LPGA title.
The 34-year-old, who closed with a 2-under 70, appeared headed for a playoff with compatriot Russamee Gulyanamitta as the pair was tied at 8-under through 17 holes. A bogey five on the final hole, however, knocked Russamee into second with China's Zhang Na (67) as Rungthiwa calmly two-putted for par to claim a 75,000 yuan (US$11,797.460) check.
