Ryu triumphs
SOUTH Korea's Ryu So-yeon captured the US$250,000 Orient China Ladies Open in Xiamen, Fujian Province, yesterday when she beat a faltering Seo Hee-kyung in a third-hole playoff for her fifth win of the year. The 19-year-old Ryu caught overnight leader Seo (72), the 2009 Korea LPGA Order of Merit winner, with a bogey-free round of 70 and a 54-hole aggregate score of five-under 211 to force the extra session. Yang Taoli (72) finished equal third for the best-ever finish by a Chinese in the national championship, tied with South Korea's Lee Jeong-eun (73) three shots off the pace. Lee Bo-mee (70) was a shot further back.
