Supamas hangs on in HK

THAILAND’S Supamas Sangchan survived an erratic finish over the last three holes to capture the EFG Hong Kong Ladies Open title by one stroke at Fanling in China’s Hong Kong yesterday.

Holding a two-stroke lead through 15 holes over the Hong Kong Golf Club Old Course, the Bangkok native closed with a bogey-birdie-bogey finish for a 10-under 206 score, a record for the 3-year-old tournament. The victory was worth US$22,500. Fellow Thai Renuka Suksukont (67) finished equal second with Chinese Taipei’s Hsieh Yu-ling (68) at the US$150,000 tournament, co-sanctioned by the China LPGA Tour, LPGA of Taiwan and Ladies Asian Golf Tour. Germany’s Leticia Ras-Anderica (67), Chinese Taipei’s Chen Yu-ju (68) and Thai Saranporn Langkulgasettrin (65) were equal 4th at two shots back. Supamas, 20, was runner-up to Shi Yuting in Beijing last week.
