Yu claims maiden victory in Wenzhou

YU Pei-lin captured the US$50,000 Orient Wenzhou Championship yesterday when she birdied the final hole of regulation and then beat the Chinese mainland's Yang Hongmei on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff to become the first Chinese-Taipei player to win on the CLPGA Tour.

Both players shot a final-round 69 on the Orient Wenzhou Yangyi layout in Zhejiang Province to finish the third event of the CLPGA Tour season deadlocked at seven-under 209. Yu, 28, took home US$7,500 for her maiden triumph. Thai teenager Chayuda Singhsuwan finished third, two shots off the pace after a 69, while the Chinese-Taipei pair of Hsieh Yu-ling (70) and Tsai Pei-ying (74) and the mainland's Shang Linyang (72) were equal fourth, five shots back.
