Chinese teenager Li Qi collected her first World Cup championship on the balance beam in Doha, Qatar.
With the highest difficulty score at 6.0 points, Li put on a clean performance to hit a total of 14.333 points on Saturday night. Belgian world champion Nina Derwael took silver at 13.633 with a far lower difficult score at 5.2. French gymnast Marine Boyer was third at 13.333. 鈥淚 was so nervous that I couldn鈥檛 move on the beam at Baku (Azerbaijan). I was injured and had to leave the field for a long time,鈥 said the 17-year-old Li, who ranked fifth one week ago at the Baku World Cup on the same apparatus. Zou Jingyuan, a promising star for Tokyo 2020, snatched the gold medal on the parallel bars with clear point advantage over Russian Vladislav Poliashov.
