Gulutzan for Stars
THE Dallas Stars hired Glen Gulutzan to be their next coach on Friday, hoping his success with their top affiliate will continue in the National Hockey League. Gulutzan is 39 and has never played or coached in the NHL. Gulutzan received a two-year contract with a club option for a third. He replaces Marc Crawford, who was fired after a loss in the season finale kept Dallas out of the playoffs. The Stars failed to make the playoff in either of Crawford's two seasons. Also, Mike Yeo was on Friday introduced as the Minnesota Wild's new head coach after one season in charge of Minnesota's top farm club in Houston. Yeo led the Aeros to the American Hockey League finals. The 37-year-old Yeo never played in the NHL and replaces the fired Todd Richards.
