Lightning bounce back to level series with Penguins

THREE broken teeth and a fat lip didn't stop Martin St Louis from helping Tampa Bay bite back as the Lightning evened the first-round Eastern Conference series against the Pittsburgh Penguins with a 5-1 win on Friday.

St Louis had a goal and assist, and Eric Brewer scored and added two assists for the Lightning.

For St Louis, the performance was payback after the diminutive forward was livid that no penalty was called after he was cracked across the face by Zbynek Michalek's errant stick in the second period of Tampa Bay's 0-3 loss in Game 1 on Wednesday.

Vincent Lecavalier, Nate Thompson and Mattias Ohlund, into an empty net, also scored. Simon Gagne had three assists and Tampa Bay rediscovered its high-powered offense to blow the game open with a three-goal first period. Craig Adams scored for the Penguins.

In Washington, Jason Chimera and Jason Arnott scored in a 1:57 span in the second period and Michal Neuvirth made 22 saves as the Capitals beat the New York Rangers 2-0 to take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference series.

In Vancouver, Daniel Sedin scored his second goal midway through the third period to lead the Canucks to a 2-0 lead over the Chicago Blackhawks with a 4-3 win in the West.

In Anaheim, California, Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and two assists, and Ray Emery made 31 saves in his first playoff start in nearly four years as Anaheim beat Nashville 5-3 to tie the Western Conference series 1-1.
