Okposo, Isles sink Blackhawks

Kyle Okposo scored 58 seconds into overtime as the New York Islanders beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in the NHL after blowing a two-goal lead to the Stanley Cup champions on Thursday.
Casey Cizikas scored in his 100th NHL game, and Thomas Vanek added a goal for the Islanders. Evgeni Nabokov made 37 saves.
Brent Seabrook and Ben Smith scored for Chicago to help the Blackhawks rally from an early 2-0 deficit.
In other games around the league, Jeff Skinner scored three goals to lead the Carolina Hurricanes past the Washington Capitals 4-3 in overtime, the Ottawa Senators defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-3, the Boston Bruins overcame the Nashville Predators 3-2 in overtime and the St Louis Blues blanked the Los Angeles Kings 5-0.
Skinner scored the game-winner against Washington after taking a pass from Ryan Murphy to cap a 3-on-1 break at 1:20 of the extra period. Manny Malhotra also scored for the Hurricanes, who have won two in a row after a five-game losing streak.
Washington’s Alex Ovechkin broke a four-game point-less streak with a goal but also missed a penalty shot.
Ottawa’s Mika Zibanejad had a goal and an assist and Clarke MacArthur scored the winner midway through the third period as the Senators won their third straight game and fourth in five games.
The Senators had not won back-to-back games in nearly seven weeks prior to their current streak.
Milan Michalek and Zack Smith also scored for the Senators.
Boston got the game-winning goal from Brad Marchand 54 seconds into overtime, giving Bruins goalie Niklas Svedberg a victory in his NHL debut. Svedberg stopped 33 shots.
Jarome Iginla and Johnny Boychuk also scored for Boston, which ended a two-game losing streak.
In St Louis, T.J. Oshie scored twice and Brian Elliott made 30 saves to lead the powerful Blues past the Kings.
Elliott, who improved to 11-1-2, picked up his third shutout of the season and 24th of his career. He stopped 13 shots in the opening period.
Elsewhere, Minnesota’s Jason Pominville scored against his former team as the Wild stopped a club-record streak of six straight losses in regulation with a 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
In Glendale, Arizona, Nathan Horton scored in his Columbus debut and Curtis McElhinney made 34 saves for his second shutout of the season as the Blue Jackets beat the sluggish Coyotes 2-0.
Horton, the ex-Boston Bruins winger who missed the first 40 games following shoulder surgery, poked in a rebound late in the second period for his 199th career goal.
Colorado’s Semyon Varlamov stopped 29 shots and Ryan O’Reilly and Jamie McGinn had a goal each as the Avalanche beat the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1.
Max Pacioretty had two goals and two assists as the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Dallas Stars 6-4 and Brent Burns and Patrick Marleau scored goals 49 seconds apart in the first period to lead the San Jose Sharks to a 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers.
