Red Wings fall to Pens but clinch playoff spot
JUSSI Jokinen scored in the shootout to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 4-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings, who still managed to clinch a playoff spot on Wednesday.
Despite the loss, Detroit clinched an NHL postseason berth for the 23rd straight season. It is the longest active streak in the four major North American sports. Tomas Jurco, Jakub Kindl, and Riley Sheahan scored goals in regulation. Detroit has not missed out on the playoffs since 1990. James Neal scored two powerplay goals in regulation for Pittsburgh, which got defenseman Kris Letang back for the first time since he suffered a stroke 10 weeks ago.
