Sabres rally to beat Canadiens 3-2 in shootout

BRAD Boyes and Thomas Vanek scored in a shootout to help the Buffalo Sabres beat the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in the NHL on Monday.

Jhonas Enroth made 25 saves in place of injured starter Ryan Miller to improve to 6-0 this season.

Miller sustained a concussion on Saturday night in a collision with Boston forward Milan Lucic in the Sabres' 6-2 loss to Boston.

The NHL said that Lucic will not be suspended for his hit.

Jason Pominville and Derek Roy scored in regulation for Buffalo, which overcame a 0-2 deficit in the third period for its fourth victory in five games.

Max Pacioretty and Erik Cole scored for the Canadiens, and Carey Price made 30 saves.

In Raleigh, North Carolina, Claude Giroux had two goals and an assist to lead surging Philadelphia 5-3 over Carolina.

Matt Read, Maxime Talbot and Wayne Simmonds scored the other goals for the Flyers, who have won five of their last seven games.

Giroux now has 11 goals this season following his first multigoal game.

Patrick Dwyer scored his first two goals of the season, and Tuomo Ruutu also had a goal for Carolina.

Flyers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 17 shots.

In Winnipeg, Manitoba, Evander Kane, Tim Stapleton and Dustin Byfuglien each had a goal and an assist as the Jets ended a five-game losing streak with a robust 5-2 win over Tampa Bay.

Ondrej Pavelec made 30 saves for Winnipeg, which got just its third home win of the season. Mark Flood and Andrew Ladd also scored for the Jets.

Martin St. Louis and Steve Stamkos had goals for Tampa Bay, which was 0 for 6 on the power play.
