Alonso fastest in German GP 1st practice session

FERNANDO Alonso was the fastest in the first practice session for the German Grand Prix as the Ferrari driver chases a second consecutive victory.
The Spaniard's quickest lap of 1 minute, 31.894 seconds around the 5.1-kilometer Nuerburgring circuit on Friday was about a third of a second faster than the times posted by the Red Bull pair of Mark Webber and defending champion Sebastian Vettel.
Alonso's Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton of McLaren rounded out the top five. A second practice session will be held later Friday.
