Barrichello buries hatchet at Brawn

RUBENS Barrichello wore his feelings on his chest, if not his sleeve, at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Thursday when he turned up for duty in a "Mr Happy" T-shirt.

After angrily accusing his championship-leading Brawn GP team of costing him victory at the previous race in Germany, the Brazilian made clear that he had calmed down and made his peace with the world.

"I have no problems, they could see it on me," he said.

Barrichello had said at the Nuerburging, after leading the race only to finish sixth and behind teammate Jenson Button following a problem with the fuel rig, that he was "terribly upset with the way things went."

"I don't want to talk to anyone in the team," he added. "It will be all 'blah, blah, blah' and I don't want to hear that."

The Brazilian said team principal Ross Brawn had rung him in America at 6.30am on the Tuesday after the race to clear the air.

"He just said he really heard things that he hadn't wanted to hear but he also said that he had said things that he shouldn't have," said Barrichello.

"It was a nice conversation ... and he just touched on the thing that, because I didn't have any personal problem, I should send an e-mail to the whole team and I did with all my heart."

Barrichello has not won a race since 2004, when he was at Ferrari, and has had to watch while teammate Button won six of the first seven races of this year.

Meanwhile, world champion Lewis Hamilton led a McLaren one-two in practice yesterday while Spanish teenager Jaime Alguersuari made a confident Formula One debut for Toro Rosso.

Hamilton was quickest overall with a lap of one minute 22.079 seconds at the Hungaroring circuit, ahead of last year's winner and teammate Heikki Kovalainen in 1:22.126, in the afternoon.

Kovalainen was fastest in the morning in 1:22.278.
