Briatore rules out return to F1
FLAVIO Briatore says he has no interest in returning to Formula One once his ban ends in 2013.
The former Renault team principal told F1's website that he is enjoying fatherhood and managing two of this season's title contenders, Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber.
"I have won seven titles with different teams. ... At the moment I wouldn't have fun in Formula One ... I am happy with what I am doing -- being a dad, husband, and taking care of my investments," the flamboyant Italian said.
Briatore was banned from F1 for orchestrating a deliberate crash by Nelson Piquet Jr at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix so Renault teammate Alonso could win.
He says he hoped Ferrari's Alonso or Red Bull's Webber wins this season's title.
Also, Lotus Racing will change its name to Team Lotus next year amid a struggle for control of the brand name in motor sport.
Team principal Tony Fernandes made the announcement late on Friday, while saying the team was changing engine supplier for next season. He did not name the supplier, but it was widely reported to be Renault.
Fernandes' team claims rights to the historic Lotus name in F1, but another company involving the Malaysian car company Proton also has some commercial rights to the brand and intends to enter the GP2 and GP3 series next year in an alliance with ART Grand Prix.
The new team would be known as Lotus ART.
Also, officials from the Korean Grand Prix were in Singapore to meet with the FIA to discuss the date for a track inspection that will decide whether or not next month's Yeongam race can go ahead.
