Button fastest in Chinese GP practice

MCLAREN driver Jenson Button has set the fastest time in opening practice for the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix.

Button was ahead of Mercedes' Nico Rosberg on the timesheets, followed by their respective teammates Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel was fifth, ahead of the Renault pair Robert Kubica and Vitaly Petrov.

Ferrari experienced another engine failure, with Fernando Alonso parking in a billow of smoke and flame.

The session was red flagged after a frightening crash. Both front wheels on the Toro Rosso of Sebastian Buemi flew off under braking at the end of the straight, but he was unhurt.
