Hamilton laughs off Horner鈥檚 call for level field

World champion Lewis Hamilton admitted he was amused by Red Bull boss Christian Horner鈥檚 calls for Formula One to forcibly reduce his Mercedes team鈥檚 advantage.
Hamilton led a Mercedes one-two ahead of Nico Rosberg in Melbourne a fortnight ago and such was its dominance, a continuation of last season鈥檚 supremacy, that Horner suggested measures may be needed to balance out the field. 鈥淚 find it quite funny,鈥 the Briton said ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix. 鈥淎lso it鈥檚 only been one race, so to already have comments after the first race is what I find funny.鈥
Hamilton noted that Horner made few complaints when Red Bull claimed four constructors鈥 titles in a row from 2010, with Sebastian Vettel winning the world title on each season, and said Mercedes had never voiced any displeasure during that period. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an interesting opinion coming from individuals who have had so much success,鈥 Hamilton added.
鈥淣ot once did this team ever complain to others in order to equalise things, they just worked their arses off. We鈥檝e pulled together and done an amazing job and I鈥檓 really very proud of that.鈥
Meanwhile, McLaren driver Fernando Alonso says he has 鈥渮ero doubts and zero concerns鈥 about returning to the car after the preseason testing crash ruled him out of the season opener.
鈥淚 was perfectly conscious at that time (of the accident), in the ambulance and in the clinic at the circuit,鈥 Alonso said. 鈥淭he doctors said (losing consciousness later) is normal just from the medicine they give you to put you in the helicopter or do the tests in the hospital.鈥
Alonso grinned as he dismissed some of the more imaginative reports, saying: 鈥淚 did not wake up (thinking it was) 1995, and I didn鈥檛 wake up speaking Italian, or any of these other things out there.鈥
He said 鈥渢here are no clear answers鈥 as to what did cause the steering failure.
