Marquez sizzles for Aragon pole
Overall MotoGP leader Marc Marquez set a track record yesterday to claim pole position for the Aragon Grand Prix in Alcaniz, Spain.
Defending champion Jorge Lorenzo starts today’s race from second, followed by Marquez’s Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa, who won here last year. The 20-year-old beat Casey Stoner’s 2011 fastest time at the 5-kilometer MotorLand Aragon circuit with a late flying lap of 1 minute, 47.804 seconds. It was the Spaniard’s seventh pole of the season. Marquez tops the standings with 253 points. Lorenzo and Pedrosa both have 219. There are five races left.
