Ma’s karting center to open for local fans
QM Karting Center, invested and jointly operated by local motor racer Ma Qinghua, will open to the public this week.
The center located on Pudong’s Tangzijing Road boasts a 1.1-kilometer outdoor track and a 0.5-km indoor track. The outdoor track will be used as the training base for FIA China Formula One Grand Prix, and serve for other national and international karting races. The indoor track, with a 15-degree gradient, is open to the general public. People can sit in a Sodi RT8 karting car for a speedy experience. Ma said during the center’s launch ceremony earlier this week he had helped design the track. The 27-year-old is now in Valencia for testing with the Citroen World Touring Car team. He became the first F1 driver from Chinese mainland by testing and driving in practice for the HRT team in 2012.
