McClaren set for Twente return
FORMER England coach Steve McClaren will return to FC Twente, replacing current coach Co Adriaanse, the Dutch broadcaster NOS reported yesterday.
McClaren won the Dutch league title with Twente in 2010. Twente is currently in third place, five points behind league leader AZ Alkmaar, but relations between Adriaanse and the players and assistant trainers have been strained. McClaren, 50, has been out of work since leaving Nottingham Forest in November after just 10 matches. Algemeen Dagblad, the country's largest sports daily, reported that McClaren met with Twente club directors last week in London and will travel to the Canary Islands to join the team for training.
