TOP seed and local favorite Saina Nehwal suffered a surprise first round defeat to Japan's Ai Goto in badminton's India Open Super Series on Wednesday. The world No. 4 Nehwal lost 17-21, 19-21 to an opponent ranked 20 places below her in New Delhi, where she won the gold medal at last year's Commonwealth Games.
