Red Bull duo unrepentant over collision
RED Bull drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel remain divided over who was to blame for their collision in Turkey and have vowed to continue aggressively racing each other in tomorrow's Canadian Grand Prix.
Both regretted on Thursday that the collision had cost the team valuable points but were unrepentant about their own actions after spectacularly blowing a one-two finish in Istanbul 12 days ago.
"What happened, happened," Vettel told reporters in Montreal.
"You can look at it from many different angles and you can't change it now, so looking back I wouldn't have done anything differently."
Webber was also unapologetic about his role in the collision.
"Nothing's really changed, it was a tough day for the team, unfortunately, but it's time to move on. Everyone has their opinions," the Australian said.
Webber looked to be cruising to his third victory in a row when Vettel, who was in second place behind him and closing in, suddenly tried to overtake him.
The Australian instinctively held his line but the German crashed into him and was the big loser, failing to finish the race while Webber recovered to claim third place and extend his lead in the championship to five points.
"Obviously it looks extremely stupid when it happens amongst teammates," Vettel said.
"I've talked to him and I think we're both fine with the situation. If it happens again then it looks very stupid. I think it will not happen."
Webber agreed that both drivers needed to be more careful in the future though he was adamant they would continue competing against each other. "I'm cool, absolutely fine. I'm totally over it and ready to go this weekend," he said.
