Renault engines for Lotus, Red Bull

RENAULT will supply engines to the renamed Lotus Racing as well as championship leader Red Bull and its own Formula One team next season, the French manufacturer said yesterday.

Lotus has used Cosworth engines on the marque's return to the sport this season but raced with Renault in its previous incarnation from 1983 to 1986 when the late Brazilian Ayrton Senna drove for the team. The Malaysian-owned team has yet to score a point but is still the most successful of the season's three new entrants and intends to revert to its illustrious predecessor's name of Team Lotus from next season, depending on the outcome of a pending court case. Given the legal uncertainty, neither side referred to Lotus by name in separate statements at the Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo.
