Star turn for F1 fans
SHANGHAI Formula One fans can win a chance to meet their racing idols in the pit by submitting their photographs and stories about the F1 China Grand Prix.
Hundreds of fans gathered at the Grand Gateway in Xujiahui, Xuhui District, yesterday to join in the activity, "Finding the best fans, facing the best racers," where they wrote stories and submitted photos about races in Shanghai during the F1's seven-year run here. A real Ferrari F1 racing car was on display at the site where fans tried their luck.
The operator of the Chinese grand prix, Shanghai Juss Event Co Ltd, will choose seven winners -- with the most special photos and experiences -- who will be the lucky birds to meet F1 stars, including Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.
"It would be the best chance for fans to meet their idols," Yang Yibin of Juss Event said, adding that fans usually go to the Shanghai Circuit in Jiading District very early and wait for hours to see the racers, and that, too, for just a few seconds.
Local fans can also apply at the Grand Gateway today between 2pm to 6pm or visit the official Website www.racing-china.com.
Meanwhile, three fans at the activity yesterday won tickets to the China Grand Prix with a chance to meet the racers.
Fans can also play the F1 racing simulator at the site, with the first 10 finishers getting an opportunity to meet with F1 stars.
The China Grand Prix 2010 will be held at the Shanghai Circuit on April 16-18.
