Webber extends deal with Red Bull for another year

FORMULA One driver Mark Webber extended his contract with Red Bull Racing by a further year until 2013.

The 35-year-old Webber, who won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday to lie second in the standings, was also in talks with Ferrari.

"There were discussions with Ferrari, but my decision was to stay here," Webber said.

"It's important the team knows you're 100 percent with them, which, of course, I am."

Webber, who has achieved nine GP victories since he signed with Red Bull in 2007, spoke of how his familiarity with the team was an influencing factor to sign on.

"I know everyone's names, I know how everyone ticks and I know all the departments which is very, very important for a driver," the Australian said.

The Webber deal confirmed Red Bull's 2013 partnership with defending champion Sebastian Vettel.

Webber refused to speculate if 2013 would be his last season in F1. "It's a results-based sport at the front of the grid so the future lies in my own hands," said Webber. "It's down to me to deliver the on-track results."
