Pedrosa claims Italian GP pole
MOTOGP championship leader Dani Pedrosa of Spain took pole position yesterday for the Italian Grand Prix.
Pedrosa, of Repsol Honda, clocked a track-record of 1 minute, 47.157 seconds around the Mugello circuit in Scarperia. Jorge Lorenzo, the Spaniard driving a Yamaha, qualified next, 0.069 seconds behind. Andrea Dovizioso, an Italian with Ducati, was third, 0.471 back. Marc Marquez, the Spaniard who sits second in the standings, qualified sixth after escaping serious injury in a crash in practice on Friday. Italy's seven-time world champion Valentino Rossi qualified seventh for today's race.
