China to probe Chen鈥檚 doping

THE Chinese Swimming Association will launch a thorough investigation into the positive doping result turned in by Chen Xinyi.
The 18-year-old swimmer had tested positive for the diuretic hydrochlorothiazide after her fourth-placed finish in the 100m butterfly.
“The Chinese Olympic delegation has demanded the Chinese swimming body start a full investigation into the matter in order to clarify the facts and seek out the truth,” the delegation said in a statement.
“The delegation will punish those responsible in accordance with the truth and law.”
The statement said China conducts 15,000 doping tests annually and only 2 out of 1,000 have failed checks in recent years.
