Rio de Janeiro unveils 2016 Olympic logo
THE organizers of the 2016 Olympic Games unveiled the official logo in a ceremony at the legendary Copacabana beach on the New Year's Eve.
Among the 1.5 million people who gathered there to celebrate the arrival of the new year is Jacques Rogge, president of the International Olympic Committee.
The logo shows three human forms dancing in a circle, connected at hands and feet, sending the message of "inspiration for the present and a legacy for the future."
The logo was chosen after a competition among 139 Brazilian agencies, which were narrowed down to a final group of eight.
