AN Italian rugby player’s capacity for cheating was mocked in the Italian press yesterday after he tested positive for no less than 11 different banned substances. Davide Vasta, a player with third division (Serie B) club Amatori Catania, based in Sicily, was caught in a random test and has since been provisionally banned. Gazzetta dello Sport, Italy’s leading sports daily, called Vasta’s use of banned pharmaceuticals “a doping record!”
