ACT beats Reds to stay in hunt

THE ACT Brumbies rebounded from their worst defeat in Super 14 rugby to hammer fellow Australians the Queensland Reds 52-13 in Brisbane yesterday.

The Brumbies piled on seven tries, with captain Stephen Hoiles scoring a pair, in a powerful display to claim maximum points just a week after suffering a 49-point loss to leaders, the Wellington Hurricanes. The win kept the two-time champions in the hunt for a place in this year's semifinals with two rounds remaining.
