Blackhawks stay alive
MICHAL Handzus scored at 2:04 of the second overtime as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Los Angeles Kings 5-4 in Game 5 on Wednesday to stay alive in the NHL’s Western Conference finals.
Brandon Saad made a nice pass to the middle, and the oldest player on the ice beat goaltender Jonathan Quick with a backhander for his second goal of the playoffs. The 37-year-old Slovak center celebrated by pounding the boards behind the net. Saad had a goal and two assists for the defending Stanley Cup champions, who ended a three-game loss streak. Game 6 is in Los Angeles tomorrow. The Kings lead the series 3-2.
