THE Auckland Blues comfortably sealed a Super 15 rugby playoff berth with a 33-16 victory over the Otago Highlanders in their final match of the regular season at Eden Park in Auckland yesterday. Tries from Stephen Brett, Luke McAlister and Jared Payne as well as 18 points from the boot of winger Lachie Munro helped the three-time champions to move to 60 points in the standings, enough for overall second place and the New Zealand conference title should South Africa's Stormers and the Canterbury Crusaders lose without bonuses today.
