Brumbies crush Force to go top
THE ACT Brumbies regained first place in Super Rugby in dominating fashion yesterday, beating the Western Force 41-7 after leading 29-0 at halftime.
The six-try win moved the Brumbies past the Queensland Reds and three points clear in first place in both the overall standings and the Australian conference. It was the Force's eighth loss in 10 matches to leave the Western Australian side in last place in the Australian conference. In Hamilton, New Zealand's Waikato Chiefs crossed for three tries in scoring 24 points in the first 15 minutes before surviving a dramatic rally by South Africa's Sharks to win 37-29 in a rematch of last year's Super final.
