Brumbies thump Rebels to move into playoff position
THE ACT Brumbies dominated from the opening minutes and went on to defeat the Melbourne Rebels 37-10 yesterday to move into top-six playoff territory in Super Rugby.
Leading 25-3 at halftime, Matt Toomua scored two tries to lead the Brumbies to their ninth win in 14 matches and into second place in the Australia conference, three points behind New South Wales. The Waratahs thumped the Chiefs 33-17 earlier, likely ending Waikato’s two-year reign as Super champion. Also, the Auckland Blues beat the Wellington Hurricanes 37-24 in an all-New Zealand clash.
