THE Bulls remain Super 14 rugby's only unbeaten side after winning 28-15 against the last-place Western Force.
The Force conceded an early try to Bulls No. 8 Pierre Spies but led 12-10 at halftime and 15-10 soon after thanks to James O'Connor's five penalties from five attempts in Perth yesterday.
The Bulls' second try, scored and converted by Morne Steyn, lifted the defending champions back in front in the 57th minute.
Then Force center Ryan Cross' yellow card in the 65th conceded a man advantage the Force couldn't repair, and Bulls fullback Zane Kirchner scored an overlap try moments later to secure the South African leader's sixth win to start the season.
Elsewhere, scrumhalf Ruan Pienaar slotted a 48-meter penalty as the fulltime hooter sounded to give the Sharks a 29-26 away victory over the Wellington Hurricanes; and New South Wales winger Lachlan Turner scored a length-of-field intercept try with seven minutes remaining to help the Waratahs to a 39-32 home victory over the Auckland Blues.
In Wellington, Hurricanes flanker Victor Vito had scored a late try, which was converted by Piri Weepu, to tie the scores just three minutes earlier before Hurricanes replacement flyhalf Aaron Cruden was penalized for not releasing the ball when he was tackled.
Pienaar then slotted his fifth penalty, giving him 19 points, to condemn the Hurricanes to a fourth successive loss, all to South African sides.
In Sydney, the Blues, leading 32-29, had been on the attack with men unmarked on the outside when Turner raced 90 meters unopposed.
Flyhalf Daniel Halangahu, who also scored two tries for the Waratahs, added a late penalty to give the home side the seven-point advantage it held until the end.
