Crusaders beat Highlanders
THE Canterbury Crusaders kept alive their faint hopes of an eighth Super Rugby title with a 24-8 victory yesterday that inflicted an eighth straight defeat on the winless Otago Highlanders.
The Christchurch-based Crusaders are a poor shadow of teams that won seven championships in Super Rugby's various formats across 17 years. The win left the Crusaders with a 4-4 record midway through the regular season, to sit third in the New Zealand conference and ahead of only the Hurricanes and Highlanders. In an all-Australian clash, the Queensland Reds played out a 19-19 draw with the ACT Brumbies in Brisbane.
