Horwill named as Wallabies captain
JAMES Horwill replaced Rocky Elsom as Australia captain in an unexpected selection as Robbie Deans announced his 30-man squad yesterday for the rugby World Cup.
The 26-year-old Horwill will become Australia's 77th test captain in the Wallabies' Tri-Nations match against the All Blacks in Brisbane on August 27 - the last match before the World Cup kicks off on September 9 in New Zealand. Flyhalf Berrick Barnes has been included at the expense of 92-test veteran Matt Giteau. Locks Nathan Sharpe and Dan Vickerman were selected for their third World Cup squads.
