Kiwi Marshall in code switch

Former New Zealand rugby league captain Benji Marshall has signed a two-year contract to play Super Rugby for the Auckland-based Blues in a late-career code switch he hopes might take him to the Olympic Games.

The 28-year-old confirmed yesterday he had agreed terms with Auckland coach John Kirwan to play for the Blues in the 2014 and 2015 Super seasons. He leaves behind a league career in which he played 196 times for Wests Tigers in Australia’s National Rugby League and 27 tests for New Zealand, as captain from 2009 and 2012.
