Kiwis end Guildford contract
THE New Zealand Rugby Union says it has terminated the contract of troubled former All Blacks winger Zac Guildford, clearing the way for him to join the French club Clermont Auvergne.
Guildford’s contract with the Crusaders was through the end of the current Super Rugby season, but Neil Sorensen, NZRU general manager of rugby, said yesterday that after discussions with the Crusaders’ team management, it was decided to end the contract immediately. Guildford’s international career has been marked by a number of off-field incidents and he admitted last year to seeking treatment for alcoholism.
