New Super teams

Super Rugby’s organizing body plans to add at least two more teams to the southern hemisphere’s provincial tournament, including a side from Argentina. After a meeting of the SANZAR Executive Committee in Sydney yesterday, chief executive Greg Peters said: “We now have a preferred model that involves six teams from South Africa and a new team from Argentina.” The current Super 15 includes five teams each from the SANZAR member unions of New Zealand, South Africa and Australia. SANZAR also administers the annual Rugby Championship, which was expanded last year to add Argentina to the members’ national sides. Peters says the model will now be taken to the national unions for approval.
