Rebels recall exiled Cipriani for Brumbies clash
TROUBLED flyhalf Danny Cipriani will return to Melbourne's starting XV for the first time in more than a month when the Rebels travel to Super 15 rivals the ACT Brumbies tomorrow.
The former England No. 10 hasn't played since April after being suspended for breaching the team's code of conduct and then due to a contractual stand off with the Rebels.
Cipriani has missed a match against the league-leading Queensland Reds, a two-game trip to South Africa and last weekend's heavy loss at home to the Cape Town-based Stormers.
Cipriani's return to flyhalf pushes Julian Huxley back into the centers for the match against the Brumbies.
The Rebels are last in the Australian conference standings and next-to-last in the overall Super 15 table in their debut in the southern hemisphere's premier provincial competition.
Meanwhile, All Black stalwarts Ma'a Nonu and Andrew Hore will be looking for new Super teams next year after Wellington Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett told them they were not part of his future plans.
Center Nonu has played more than 100 games for the Wellington-based team, while hooker Hore, the current captain, has also played more than 100 Super rugby games.
Both are considered certainties for Graham Henry's All Blacks World Cup squad later this year.
"Both of them would have potentially liked to have done one more season here so because of that there'll be some hurt feelings around that," Hammett told reporters after training yesterday.
Nonu has been linked with a move to the Waikato Chiefs next season to join his former provincial coach Dave Rennie, who is taking over from the retiring Ian Foster. Hammett said that fellow All Blacks' Piri Weepu and Cory Jane had been asked to re-commit to the franchise.
The Hurricanes are ninth in the overall standings, and fourth in the New Zealand conference with no chance of making the playoffs.
